Lost Paradises Between the Lines. Rep Rep

Follow the lines of the Argentinian illustrator Miguel Rep while drawing for the ISLA Festival his lost paradises and the ones of great literary figures: Miguel de Cervantes and his Don Quixote, Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cortázar and James Joyce. A literary and vital trip, from Argentina to Ireland through Spain. We invite you to enjoy Rep’s drawings, wisdom and genius.

Miguel Antonio Repiso signs as Rep. He was born in 1961 (San Isidro, Buenos Aires, Argentina). Rep is a self-taught sketcher and humour cartoonist that travels around the world creating wall paintings. He publishes daily in Página/12 since its first issue and collaborates with the bimonthly magazine Orsai (Barcelona). He has collaborated with El País (Madrid) and La Vanguardia (Barcelona) in Spain; with El Tiempo (Bogota), Charlie Hebdo (France) and Internazionale (Italy). Rep has illustrated Don Quijote de la Mancha (Don Quixote of La Manche) and La Divina Comedia (The Divine Comedy). He has created around 60 characters and series, in particular El niño azul, Postales, Bellas Artes, Barrios de Buenos Aires, Gaspar, el Revolú, Lukas and El Culpo. He is the author of 38 books, including the biographies of Cortázar and Evita. He is currently publishing Ventanas Culturales in social media, for the Institut Français in Argentina. 

Rep had numerous solo exhibitions (Sweden, England, U.S., Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Spain, Venezuela, Bolivia, Italy, France, Uruguay, Colombia and Germany) and his works have been awarded internationally (Spain, Japan, U.S. and Cuba). He is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and has been appointed Distinguished Personality of the Culture of the City of Buenos Aires. He conducts two programmes of interviews for the radio, El Holograma and La Anchoa. His last book is Cuentinimos, recently published at the same time in Spain and Mexico. He is now working on his version of Pinocchio, to be published in 2021.
