To commemorate the International Day of LGBT Pride in Ireland, we present a conversation with sportsman, writer and LGBT activist, Víctor Gutiérrez Santiago, who will talk about his book Balón amarillo, bandera arcoíris (Yellow ball, rainbow flag).

In the book, based on his personal story, Víctor Gutiérrez brings to the table the difficulties that the LGBTI collective faces in sport and the importance of making sexual diversity visible. Balón amarillo, bandera arcoíris denounces a reality in which the discrimination in the sports world is present towards the sportsmen who dare to make their sexual orientation visible. A book that tells us about gender roles and about sport to make us reconsider their prejudices.

Víctor Gutiérrez (Madrid, 1991) is a Spanish water polo player, member of the National Team. He’s passionate about communication and has graduated in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication. He has been the first elite team sports athlete to speak openly about his sexual orientation in Spain. As an LGTBI+ activist, Gutiérrez has received the Diversity in Sports Award at the II Alan Turing Awards or the Visibility in Sports Award granted by Madrid Diversa, among others.

Welcome by the Spanish Ambassador to Ireland, Ion de la Riva.
Presents: Jed Dowling, Director, Dublin LGBTQ Pride CLG.
