The plague
The plague is a documentary directed by Neus Ballús in 2013. It portrays a number of seemingly unconnected stories that interweave in the outskirts of Barcelona. A farmer threatened by bankruptcy, a Filipino woman who has just arrived, an elderly lady facing the end of her days, a prostitute without clients, a Moldavian young man preparing for a wrestling championship and a plague devastating fields and crops. The film tells about life in the outskirts of the great cities between fields, motorways and industrial estates.
