La caza (The Hunt)

La caza (The Hunt) Videomercury/Egeda

With this story of three old friends getting together for a hunt, Carlos Saura started a metaphorical cinema that he developed alongside the Spanish producer Elías Querejeta in the nineteen sixties. Despite the censorship prevailing in Spain at the time, the film - awarded the Silver Bear for best director at the Berlin festival - managed to put the spotlight on the view of Spanish civil war’s winners and losers with an interesting decomposition of the Francoist patriarchy that continues surprising today for its shocking images.

Synopsis: Three friends and the young relative of one of them plan a pleasant day of hunting in a private preserve. Personal problems and tensions will arise among them turning the day into hell as a reflection of the battle that took place in that same preserve during the civil war.
