In tribute to Nobel Prize winner Mario Vargas Llosa, we invite you to a special screening of the film Pantaleón y las visitadoras, a cinematic adaptation of his acclaimed novel of the same name, directed by the master of Peruvian cinema, Francisco Lombardi. The film will be introduce by author María José Caro.

Published in 1973, Vargas Llosa's novel was a milestone in his career. Known for its innovative narrative style and biting humour, the work explores themes such as social hypocrisy and the collision between order and chaos. Acclaimed by critics, the film received the Best Film and Best Director awards at the Cartagena Film Festival and was selected for the Cannes Film Festival. Lombardi's adaptation has been praised for its fidelity to the humour and social critique of the novel, allowing both literary and film audiences to delve into the unique vision of Vargas Llosa's universe.

Synopsis: Captain Pantaleón Pantoja, a Peruvian army officer, receives a secret mission to establish a "Visiting Service" to satisfy the sexual needs of the troops. The story mixes military discipline with absurd and comical situations, becoming a hilarious satire on bureaucracy, morality, and the contradictions of human nature.

Francisco Lombardi, a key figure in Peruvian cinema, has been internationally recognized for his ability to bring the work of great Latin American authors to the screen, maintaining the essence and spirit of the original texts.
