Flamenco
In this workshop we will immerse in the universe of flamenco through one of its most representative musical forms: Cantiñas. Their themes are light and their rhythm is festive. Cantiñas are originally from Cádiz, although there are other existing variations such as Alegrías from Córdoba or Caracoles, from Madrid.
This term we will work the technique of tapping, the use of the skirt as a means while dancing (with a brief introduction to the use of the tailed-gown), posture in flamenco, arms and hands movement, rhythm and history behind the different styles of Cantiñas: Alegrías, Caracoles, Romeras, Mirabras, Alegrías from Córdoba and Cantiñas from Utrera.
We will work in an Alegrías choreography, in which we will incorporate the technique learned throughout the course, especially that regarding the correct use of the skirt.
Sevillanas will be included in the course provided the group has a special interest in them.
New students and beginners welcome. Course fee: €150 (10 weeks). Book your place on-line: http://bit.ly/2g5UKwJ. More info: bookings.dublin@cervantes.es.
