Fantastic Portraits & Visual Haikus

Fantastic Portraits & Visual Haikus Patricio Cassinoni

In this show, Argentinian visual artist Patricio Cassinoni, presents two of his most recent projects. Retratos fantásticos offers characters edging the surreal to question the traditional concept of what is considered a portrait, commonly understood as the graphic representation of a face. These are complemented by a selection from Visual Haikus, the result of a quest consisting in creating visual poetry that takes Japanese haikus as a starting point; specific and simple forms aid to create pieces with a complex poetic meaning. Patricio Cassinoni is a visual artist born in Buenos Aires (Argentina). He studied photography with Filiberto Mugnani and Alberto Goldstein at the Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas. In 2007, he established himself in Dublin. His work has been featured in collective and solo shows as well as in festivals in Buenos Aires, Dublin, Barcelona, Madrid, Edinburgh, Brussels, Berlin and Toruń. From his study in Dublin he continues to develop his creative work and teaches photography workshops.
