The Spanish Harp: Beyond Classical

The Spanish Harp: Beyond Classical © Fabio Grassi

The Instituto Cervantes Dublin invites audiences to a bold and unexpected musical journey with Spanish harpist, singer and composer Pilar Paradela. Classically trained but creatively untamed, Paradela breaks the mould of the harp as a purely classical instrument. Her performance blends original compositions with surprising reworkings of iconic Spanish songs, moving effortlessly through flamenco, rumba, jazz and beyond. With each string and each note, Paradela reveals the harp’s full expressive potential—raw, rhythmic, emotional and free. This is not just a concert; it’s a reimagining of what the harp can be, and an invitation to feel music without borders.

Pilar Paradela studied at the Conservatory of Music of Salamanca (Spain). Harpist and composer based in Dublin, she has played at prestigious venues such as the National Gallery of Ireland. Pilar blends harp and voice with various styles such as jazz and flamenco, uniting classical music with modern sounds and giving a fresh touch to this magical instrument.
