Contemporary Spanish Cinema Film Series

The Contemporary season offers a range of films that evoke the rich diversity of Spanish cinema, which has always maintained a steady dialogue with the society that it´s a part of and seeks to address. This season is a combination of different thematic and formal attempts to define the highly diverse nature of cinema in its 2nd Century.

The program includes several films that look at the concerns surrounding film production. They contain different traditional and formal references and aim to reach very different audiences. Somehow, all find their form with common production values, as all have been supported by traditional producers (a lot of the time with more than one company involved). And so they´ve agreed to co-exist together in the same space - what we call "Spanish cinema." However, the stories they have chosen, as an expression within the feature film format, couldn´t be more alien and diverse.
