Cervantes Dublin Theatre Club
The Cervantes Dublin Theatre Club continues on in 2017. In this New Year, the club will continue to work from texts by contemporary playwrights who deal with current issues. Using the performance as a didactic tool, Villegas, director of the club, puts her efforts into the members learning process, enabling all the participants to explore concepts and feelings, not only at personal level but as a group. This analytic aspect of self-knowledge and expression within the performance will enrich the acting of all members at the club. Also within this aspect of drama, the club will prepare a few scenes to provide with some pleasant and interesting theatre evenings.
The group will be directed by Sandra Villegas who was awarded an MA in Directing for Theatre from University College Dublin (UCD). She has a Diploma in Arts: Theatre & Drama, from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth (NUI) and a Bachelor in Performing Arts (Cum Laude) from The City College of New York (CCNY). Sandra is currently teaching a course in ‘World Drama’ at DBS Arts School in Dublin. She founded ‘The Latin Sphere Theatre’ company in Dublin and offers various theatre workshops for both adults and children.
Rehearsals take place every Monday, from 7 pm to 9.30pm at Café Literario, Instituto Cervantes Dublin (ground floor).
