«Arredor de si», a panorama of current Galician cinema

Curated by Galician producer Beli Martínez, we present a selection of five recent Galician short films introduced by the curator. A panorama through documentary, animation and fiction, which portrays a Galicia between tradition and modernity, which questions its identity and relates to the world beyond the periphery. Q&A with curator Beli Martínez after the screenings.

Beli Martínez (A Guarda, 1980) holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Vigo, where she wrote the first thesis on the Novo Cinema Galego (New Galician Cinema). Beli is also a producer at Filmika Galaika. Her films have received recognition from juries at festivals such as Venice, Locarno, Donostia, BAFICI, and Play-Doc. She combines audiovisual production with teaching in the Audiovisual Communication and Advertising Area at the University of Vigo.
