Classical guitarist Barbora Kubíková and mezzo-soprano Ester Pavlů take the audience on an exciting musical journey across various regions of Spain through the works of classical Spanish composers of the Golden Era of classical guitar.
Barbora Kubíková belongs to one of the best Czech classical guitarists; mezzo-soprano Ester Pavlů is a soloist of the National Theatre in Prague and one of the biggest Czech opera stars of the young generation.
The concert program is an echo of a 2021 classical music festival titled “Classical Concerts at Werich’s” which focuses on exceptionally talented young classical musicians. Both artists are connected through a cooperation with a world-famous Argentinian tenor, conductor and composer José Cura.
“Classical Concerts at Werich's” is a music series featuring exceptionally talented young artists in the Werich Villa garden on Prague’s Kampa Island – the former home of the incomparable actor, philosopher and writer Jan Werich.
This event is organized in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic, the Prague Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International, and the T. G. Masaryk Czech School.
Barbora Kubíková was born on 18th May, 1998 in České Budějovice, Czech Republic. She started to play the guitar at the age of six. Since 2013 till 2019 she has studied at the Conservatoire České Budějovice with Patrick Vacík. Currently she is studying at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar in Germany in Ricardo Gallén's class.
She has already cooperated with many of Czech leading orchestras, in 2012 and 2018 as a soloist with Orchestra of South Bohemian Theatre, in 2013 and 2017 with South Czech Philharmonic, in 2017 also with Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra SOČR, in 2017 and 2018 with West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra, in 2020 with North Czech Philharmonic and in 2017 and 2018 with Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK; as well as with international orchestras such as Dresdner Kappellsolisten (2018), Musikkollegium Winterthur (2018), Würth Philharmoniker (2018), Orquestra Simfònica Julià Carbonell de les Terres de Lleida (2019) or Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (2020).
In October 2017 Barbora Kubíková started to cooperate with Maestro José Cura and Maestro Mario De Rose, with whom she had several concerts in 2018.
In March 2018 she received the 2nd Prize in a competition for young soloists up to 28 years organized by the Czech Philharmonic, called "Play with the Czech Philharmonic" - in one category common for all instruments including singing with 126 participants .
During 2018, 2019 and 2020 Barbora Kubíková has been cooperating with Maestro José Cura again, and has played several concerts by his side in the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland and Spain, where she made a debut with Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez under Maestro Cura's baton with great success.
The Czech mezzo-soprano Ester Pavlů graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts Prague and perfected her singing skills in masterclasses with Aprile Millo, José Cura and Peter Dvorsky. She has won several international singing competitions, including the Antonín Dvořák Singing Competition, the Concours International. One of her remarkable concert appearances is the Old Lady in the world premiere of Bohuslav Martinů’s What Men Live By under the direction of Jiří Bělohlávek. The production was nominated for the International Opera Award 2015. The recording of the work was then awarded the Czech Music Prize - Anděl - for the best classical recording.
Ester Pavlů u has already workl de Belcanto Vincenzo Bellini and the Beno Blachut Award.
In 2017 Ester Pavlů was discovered by Jose Cura at his masterclass and was invited to sing with him at his Prague concert and then engaged as Fenena in Verdi's Nabucco at
