New Ibero-American Cinema: Female Directors Who Tell Stories

New Ibero-American Cinema: Female Directors Who Tell Stories Imagen: Outplay Films. Diseño: Lola Montero (Instituto Cervantes)

As part of the Instituto Cervantes' commitment to showcasing the latest productions in Ibero-American cinema, this series highlights the work of four female directors who have made their mark in the continent's film production and in Spanish-language cinema on the international stage, as evidenced by their participation in the most important auteur film festivals. The four films in this series feature stories led by different women, offering a rich and committed narrative focused on women's culture. Originating from Chile, Mexico, Argentina, and Spain—where the only documentary in the series comes from—the program serves as a window into diverse realities.

This program is presented in collaboration with the Ibero-American Festival of Huelva, where female directors have made up 50% of the programmed films for several years. This selection of titles reveals four examples of remarkable magnetism and beauty.
