No todo es vigilia

No todo es vigilia Hermes Paralluelo

An elderly couple spend their days at home, living with their loneliness and their ailments, and facing the threat of their imminent transfer to a residence. Fleeing the costumbrismo, rejecting any kind of easy sentimentality, this film follows its steps with absolute rigor, with Spartan discipline, as if it were two heroes in decline, wrapped in a twilight and repeating the same gestures day after day, is supposed that until the end of time. This is how Hermes Paralluelo gets the most honest portrait possible of his grandparents, no longer the puppets of a sometimes forced memory, but two simple bodies that keep moving despite aging. That's all there is, after all.
