Lume (Fire)

Lume (Fire) Alberte Pagán

Lume (‘Fire’) is one of the latest works by the Galician director Alberte Pagán, a specialist in experimental cinema, who in 2016 received the Galicia Critics Award in the category of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts.

The short belongs to the series «Surfaces», in which Pagán plays with the superposition of still photographs of different natural elements with the movement of the audiovisual story.

In Lume, the director uses an intense, reddish color range, effectively reminiscent of fire, to underline the indignation and rage shown by the audiovisual images, projected on the still photography of roots, with the live sound of a demonstration in memory of the young Carlos Palomino.

Synopsis: In this new installment of the «Surfaces» series, an anti-fascist demonstration held in Santiago de Compostela, on November 20, 2007, in homage to the 16-year-old Carlos Palomino, murdered in Madrid a few days before by a neo-Nazi, is projected on roots with live sound.
