Insolación by Emilia Pardo Bazán (1851-1921) was a scandalous novel in its time. The subject matter was considered risqué and, in addition, it explored issues such as the different sexual morals for men and women. Critics have highlighted what some already glimpsed in its time: the magnificent psychological study of the female character and the literary quality of the work.
