The woman at the heart of this story may appear fragile, yet we may be looking at one of the last representatives of a lineage of powerful women who have sustained our communities for centuries. In contrast to our world of rampant consumerism, she needs very little to live: a patch of land, a box to display her goods, and a friendly chat.
Celia Viada follows her protagonist — an example of austerity and dignity — on her journey, portraying her with tenderness and respect, as shown in the poignant summary hidden in the closing credits of the short film: “To all the Gregorias who manage to live exactly as they please.” Nothing more, nothing less.
Synopsis: Gregoria has a crooked back, strong hands and black fingernails. She lives bent towards the earth and needs very little: a piece of land, some recycled plastic crates, and a close conversation at the end of the day. [Source: Distribution with Glasses].
