El crimen de Cuenca (The Crime of Cuenca)

Directed by the exceptional Pilar Miró - whose bravery brought her into constant confrontations with the authorities - this 1979 film is based on a true story that occurred in the 1910s. The film was a real scandal in the Spain of that time, which was living its first years in democracy. The terrible story of an unsolved crime and the search for its culprits put the director - a myth in the history of Spanish film culture - in front of the courts, which considered that "it could be a criminal act against the judicial corps and the Guardia Civil".
