The Consulate General of Argentina in Chicago will inaugurate on September 11 the group exhibition “Chicago Meets Argentina – 2025: Changes”, a new edition of this initiative that seeks to consolidate a space of visibility for Argentine artists residing in the Midwest of the United States.
The exhibition presents works by María Burundarena, Carlota Gay, Jimena Herrero, Matthias Neumann, and Martha Ponzio, selected through the third open public competition organized by the Consulate. Their works—created in diverse media, techniques, and languages—offer a multifaceted vision of Argentine art conceived and produced beyond national borders.
The curatorial approach of this edition proposes a reflection on processes of individual and collective transformation, in dialogue with the cultural and social changes that define our time. The selection of artists was carried out by a jury composed of the winners of the 2024 edition: Elena Morone, Ramón Sola, and Andrea Ziblat, who particularly valued proposals that best engaged with the notion of change as the central concept.
Hosted at the UNAM Chicago Gallery, in the heart of the city’s arts district, and with the support of Instituto Cervantes of Chicago in its promotion, this exhibition continues to strengthen Argentine–U.S. cultural exchange and the international projection of visual arts in Spanish.
A unique opportunity to discover new perspectives, languages, and narratives of contemporary Argentine art in Chicago.
