Ceviche en Pittsburgh
Ceviche en Pittsburgh narrates the story between two brothers: Toño, the youngest one, who lives in USA and studies at a doctoral program in Latin American History; and Carlos, eight years older, who lives in Lima and works at his father’s company. Carlos visits surprisingly his younger brother in Pittsburgh. They cook a weekend ceviche and during that moment the conflict between two different projects of life is expressed: Toño plans to develop his career in USA forgetting his roots; and Carlos prefers to stay in his country. Ceviche en Pittsburgh was produced for first time under the title of Trecho de mudez in Pittsburgh. This current production is a tribute for its twenty five years. El Tecolote was founded by Roma Díaz in 2006. Its mission is to produce and disseminate playwriting written in Spanish in Chicago and Midwest. El Tecolote has produced Comala (adaptation from Juan Rulfo’s short stories written by Roma Díaz), Pedro y el capitán by Mario Benedetti, El muro based on Los invasores by Egon Wolff, among other plays.
