Spanish Extra Virgin Olive Oil Guide Tasting

This workshop will open your senses to the experience and taste of genuine Spanish extra virgin olive oils. To truly enjoy olive oil, all senses must be used simultaneously: smell, taste and touch. Workshop presenters will analyze how the senses influence each other in the course of tasting the precious product. This interactive workshop will serve as an intro to the world of tastes and aromas which emanate from extra virgin olive oils. You will be introduced to basic concepts required to appreciate the value of the golden liquid. Participants will learn to differentiate EVOO obtained from the different varieties, and to distinguish among each one's varied positive attributes. We will discuss the nutritional values and scientific studies about olive oil’s healthy properties, and the Spanish cultural heritage that Spanish olive oil carries. The organoleptic properties of the oil will be presented, as well as the many wonderful gastronomical uses, culminating in a tasting of the different varieties of Spanish extra virgin olive oil. The experts: Alfonso Fernández-López, nutritionist and founder of “Sabor de España” (Taste of Spain). He has been working in the olive oil business for many years, and his family has been involved in olive oil production and cultivation for five generations. Living in Andalucía, the largest production area worldwide, Alfonso has been teaching sales forces worldwide and doing seminars promoting Olive Oils from Spain on TV, radio shows, and newspapers, in addition to working with chefs from China, to Canada, the USA, Japan, France, Korea, and elsewhere. www.sabordeespana.net Teresa Pérez has been the General Manager of Olive Oils from Spain since 2008, and is responsible for the technical team. An agricultural engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, she is a specialist in agri-business, executive management, and expert in olive oils.
