Luisa Manuela Estrella de la Fuente Moreno, known as Estrella Morena and world famous among dance and flamenco enthusiasts, began her training at 5 years of age. Her professional career began at 15 on the flamenco stages of Madrid. When she turned 17, she was hired by Rafael de Córdoba and performed her debut as lead dancer in the great Teatro de La Zarzuela in Madrid. Estrella later travelled to New York where she watched the Great Antonio, gave an audition and was hired as the lead dancer of his show for three years upon returning to Madrid.
Estrella Morena performed concerts in 17 countries, on television programs with the Great Antonio in Japan and Madrid, and in Spanish festivals. In 1974, she returned to New York and performed in diverse concerts sponsored by the Spanish Consulate of New York. She made tours of the United States and Canada with the famous Jose Greco and acted in the Chateau Madrid and alongside her husband. In 1985 she moved to Miami, Florida where she settled down with her husband--the great singer Pepe de Málaga--and their son.
Estrella Morena and her husband performed together for many years. Later on, Estrella performed as a guest artist for Bailes Ferrer Flamenco Music and Dance Company and in 2001 she performed for three days in the Lincoln Theatre at Miami Beach with the New World Symphony and alongside the famous singer Carmen Linares.
Estrella Morena opened her flamenco school in June of 1990, the Estrella Morena Flamenco Dance Studio, which has now celebrated over 27 years of excellence.
