Built around eight sequence shots, Julio Medem’s daring new film explores the tribal history of 20th Century Spain through two characters born on the same day, kilometers apart: Octavio and Adela. When they first meet, Octavio is a supporter of Franco’s nationalists and Adela the daughter of a Republican schoolteacher later executed by a firing squad.
