The November session of our Reading Club will be dedicated to Cuban storyteller Karla Suárez.

Karla Suárez (Havana - Cuba, 1969) is a Cuban narrator and a graduate in electronic engineering. Many of her narrative stories have appeared in anthologies and magazines published in England, the United States, Finland, Iceland, Poland, France, Italy, Spain, Cuba and several Latin American countries. Her novels have been translated into several languages. In 2012, her novel Havana, Year Zero won the Prix Carbet de la Caraïbe et du Tout-monde and the Grand Prix du Livre Insulaire in France.

Suárez has given workshops in writing in several countries. She has been invited to lecture and participate in literary festivals in Europe and Latin America. She has been a juror for the Juan Rulfo Prize and a contributor to the newspapers El País in Spain and El Informador in Mexico.

She currently coordinates the Reading Club at the Instituto Cervantes in Lisbon and teaches writing workshops at the Escuela de Escritores in Madrid.

Juan Vicente Piqueras, poet and director of the Instituto Cervantes in Amman, will present and interview the guest and hold a discussion with the participants who will have previously read poems and texts by the author.
