Theremonial, Dark & Exotic Theremin Music, in the Amman Jazz Festival
As part of the Amman Jazz Festival organized by Orange Red in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union and EUNIC Jordan, renowned Spanish thereminist and electronic musician Javier Díez Ena will present a concert entitled Theremonial, Dark & Exotic Theremin Music.
Theremonial Live Show is a theremin concert with visuals exclusively created for this piece. A theremin concert is always something unusual, but this concert is unique because every sound and every note comes from that instrument. No sampler or any other recording is used on stage, just loops played strickly live by Javier, an amount of layers that allows the theremin to adopt different musical roles: rhythm, bass, harmony, texture, melody. This is possible due to a wide variety of pedal effects and a loopstation that records the sound from the theremin. During the show, Javier uses two different theremins (Moog Etherwave Plus and Subscope Voicematic 120) depending on the timbrical necessities of the songs, sometimes sounding at the same time with their respective electromagnetic fields affecting mutually. Theremonial, Dark & Exotic Theremin Music is the live translation of the studio album with the same title and identical aesthetic parameters.
Javier Díez Ena (Zaragoza, 1974) is a double bass player, thereminist and electronic musician. Most of his musical activity (out of his theremin work) is bound to avant-jazz band Dead Capo, playing numerous live concerts and participating in festivals all over the world.
