The Carpet of Proverbs
With this Carpet of Proverbs, the Instituto Cervantes in Amman joins the Tapestry of Words initiative of the Lanzarote Biosphere Reserve, approved in 2021 as part of UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere program. The project was endorsed in 2023 by all Spanish reserves under the name Tapestry of Proverbs and aims to establish a "human bond with nature by recognizing its limits and our dependence on it".This Carpet of Proverbs brings together two alphabets—Arabic and Latin—and a shared legacy. We have no doubt that preserving Biosphere Reserves means caring for biodiversity as much as for the cultural heritage these spaces safeguard. The activity is held to mark the International Book Day.
