Encounter with Spanish poet Rosana Acquaroni
October’s session of the Virtual Reading Club Cervantes in Amman will be with a very special author: the poet Rosana Acquaroni.
Rosana Acquaroni holds a Bachelor degree in Hispanic Philology from the Autonomous University of Madrid and a doctorate in Applied Linguistics from the Complutense University of Madrid. Acquaroni is a poet and works as a teacher at the Complutense Center for Spanish.
She has published Del mar bajo los puentes (1988) for which she won a second prize in the Adonais Prize, El Jardín Navegable (1990 and reissued in 2017), that obtained a scholarship for Literary Creation granted by the Ministry of Culture, Cartografía sin mundo (1995), that was awarded the Cáceres World Heritage Poetry Prize, Lámparas de arena (2000), Discordia de los dóciles (2011) and La casa grande (2018), Best Book of the Year Award in 2019, awarded by the Madrid Libraries Union. Her poems are present in various anthology collections, such as: Ellas tienen la palabra (1997), En legítima defensa, poetas en tiempos de crisis (2014), Disidentes; Antología de poetas críticos españoles (1990-2014) (2015) and (Tras) lúcidas. Poesía escrita por mujeres (1980-2016) (2014). Her work has been translated into French, German, Arabic and Portuguese.
The Encounter will be moderated by Juan Vicente Piqueras, poet and director of the centre, who will also present and interview the guest and will hold a discussion with the participants who will have previously read some of the author's poems and texts.
