Campeonas ("Champions") Campeonas

Within the framework of the film forum session «Cine en femenino», the film Campeonas ("Champions") by the Spanish director Elena Carrascal will be screened and, afterwards, a colloquium will take place with the film-maker Ana Latorre Cristobal. 


Synopsis: Campeonas is a documentary series that consists of six episodes that reclaim women’s football. Three generations of Spanish footballers that show the evolution of this sport for women share their testimonies; Alexia Putellas, forward and midfielder for FC Barcelona, and the Spanish National Club, one of the big icons of female football. Carmen Arce “Kubalita”, the first international goalkeeper with Spain, started playing football in 1970 in Valencia. This pioneer of women’s football flattened the path so a new generation of women could consider having a professional future in football. Finally, the young rising star Viktoria Adrianova, forward in Barcelona B, who with only 17 years has taken this discipline in a different direction, while she balances sport with her academic life.
