150 i una Grossa (‘150 and one lottery prize’)

150 i una Grossa (‘150 and one lottery prize’) Daniele Musio

The description of community life is not always easy for the cinema industry, which tends to focus on single characters. Despite that, this movie opts for a collective story where the inhabitants of a village have to make decisions that will radically change their lives. The plural image that this documentary offers shows a guiding line based on the compromise of a group of people from all generations to keep their population and traditions alive.

Synopsis: Ametlla de Merola is one of the smallest villages in Catalonia, with a little more than 150 inhabitants. The theatre is the central core of the village, but it would have to be closed for lack of resources: it does not even have seats. Everything changes when this textile colony wins the Christmas lottery (‘el Gordo de Navidad’) and the residents invest in reforming the theatre to prevent its disappearance.
