Una sombra oscilante

The filmmaker, a woman photographer, engages with the photo archive of her father, a man who was also a photographer during his years of militant activism against the dictatorship in Chile and his exile throughout Latin America.

In the act of exploring these images, the filmmaker goes to and returns from the archive time and again, creating a game in an attempt to connect with her father. A variety of fictions emerge that weave themselves delicately into the narrative, creating the possibility to reflect on the resistance, the consequences of the horror, and the possibilities that images contain for conceiving other futures.

Una sombra oscilante (An Oscillating Shadow) will explore the intimate and political weight of images, provoking reflections on what continues to burn in them and what they can offer us while facing the devastation and uncertainty of our times.
