Un cielo impasible
Un cielo impasible is a historical memory project directed by filmmaker David Varela and featuring a group of young people who, based on actual witness accounts, discuss the events that took place during a sweltering July in 1937 at the Battle of Brunete in Madrid.
Synopsis: Brunete, in western Madrid, is the site of one of the bloodiest and deadliest battles of the Spanish Civil War. A group of teenagers researches, recites, and debates the testimonies of the soldiers who fought in that terrible battle. In this way, they make the experiences of the veterans and the fallen their own. Meanwhile, the film evolves, adapts, and takes shape through the eyes of a new generation that is open to dialogue and critically examines the education and historical memory of a country in a state of constant polarization.
