Hormigas perplejas

Hormigas perplejas Pedro Perles

Hormigas perplejas may be Mercedes Moncada’s most realistic work, though her signature poetic elements remain present. It is an exploration of a specific conflict—several labor protests that took place in the Bay of Cádiz—that ultimately offers a broader reflection on the current labor struggle within an ultra-capitalist framework.

Synopsis: The specter of closure looms over an aircraft factory. Meanwhile, its workers—both men and women—discover with dismay that their greatest threat is the loss of their direct jobs and job security. They know what the future holds for them because they have seen it: the subcontracting labor model has been impacting the bodies, souls, and lives of the people working in the shipyards of this bay for decades.
