El extraño viaje

El extraño viaje Jano (Francisco Fernández-Zarza)

A year after shooting the resounding "El mundo sigue" (The World Goes On), Fernán-Gómez made another film that gave a good account of his incredible mastery in shaping stories of a bold modernity. Situated in a complex territory of different narratives (comedy, suspense, realism, musical), this film, discreetly released at the time, has gone down in the history of Spanish cinema as one of its most outstanding classics. Synopsis: In a small provincial town near the capital, lives a family composed of three siblings: the dominant and severe Ignacia and the shy and withdrawn Paquita and Venancio. The monotony of village life is only broken on Saturdays when a musical group arrives from Madrid to liven up the weekend with their songs. One stormy Saturday, Paquita and Venancio hear noises and seek protection in their sister's room. There they see someone, but Ignacia denies it categorically.
