Discovering the cinema of Manuel Martín Cuenca
El director Manuel Martín Cuenca.Cine Magnífico welcomes one of the most established filmmakers in Spanish cinema. Director, screenwriter and writer Manuel Martín Cuenca visits us to present, for the first time in New Mexico, his new feature film El amor de Andrea. A collaborator in his beginnings with legendary Spanish directors such as José Luis Cuerda and José Luis Borau, he made his directorial debut in 1991, initiating one of the most solid and recognized careers in Spanish cinema in which he has alternated his passion for fiction and documentary.
His second fiction feature Malas temporadas won international awards at the San Diego Latino Film Festival and the Santa Barbara Film Festival. With Caníbal he won the Concha de Oro for Best Cinematography at the San Sebastian Festival, and with El autor he won the Fipresci Grand Prize from the critics at the Toronto Festival and four Goya awards from the Spanish Film Academy.
The author will have a conversation with the executive director of the Instituto Cervantes Albuquerque, Silvia Grijalba, and the cultural coordinator of the center, Robert Donnelly, which will follow the screening of El amor de Andrea.
