The virtual film club «Date with Cinema» opens its 2026 programme with Los tonos mayores, by Ingrid Pokropek.
The directorial debut of Ingrid Pokropek introduces us to a film that deals with fantasy and mystery in a story centred on a teenager of remarkable sensitivity. This young Argentine director crafts a narrative from a place of closeness to a period in everyone's life where certainties are not the foundation on which one defines oneself.
The discussion about the film will be moderated by Carlos García Hernández and will feature the participation of its director Ingrid Pokropek (video chat 13 April), and one of its actresses, Mercedes Halfon (video chat 20 April).
You will be able to participate in the club and attend two online video chats: on the 13th with the director and screenwriter of the film, Ingrid Pokropek, and on the 20th with Mercedes Halfon, one of the actresses. Carlos García Hernández will moderate both sessions.
Synopsis
Los tonos mayores is an Argentine fantasy and mystery film from 2023, written and directed by Ingrid Pokropek in her directorial debut. Starring Sofía Clausen in her acting debut, the film tells the story of Ana, a fourteen-year-old girl who discovers that the metal plate she has in her arm from a childhood accident is now receiving a strange message in Morse code.
A co-production between Argentina and Spain, it was selected for the Generation Kplus section of the 2024 Berlin International Film Festival, where it competed for the Crystal Bear for best film.
