The Bride Flights

The Bride Flights Instituto Cervantes Sídney

On the occasion of the International Women's Day, the Instituto Cervantes in Sydney works together with the University of New South Wales (UNSW), the Spanish Ministry of Inclusion, Social Services and Migration, and the Spanish Consulates in Sydney and Melbourne to present the colloquium and screening of the documentary "The Bride Flights" by Dr. Natalia Ortiz, UNSW.

The documentary is about a group of Spanish womenwho arrived in Australia more than 60 years ago under the “Martha´s Plan”, a migratory plan between Australian and Spanish government. These outstanding stories are part of the Spanish cultural heritage in Australia.

The documentary will be screened at the Instituto Cervantes in Sydney, followed by a colloquium with the participation of the author of the documentary, Dr. Natalia Ortiz as well as the Spanish consul in Sydney, Rebeca Guinea, and several "Marthas". For the occasion, certificates will be granted by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations of Spain to the women participating in the Plan.
