This conference aims to analyze the Spanish National Health System and the policies related to the management of Mental Health. Professor José Luís Ayuso and Professor Luís Salvador Carulla will exchange their different points of view about the Australian and Spanish system in issues related to Mental health.
This lecture will be given by Professor José Luís Ayuso-Mateos, Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Head of Psychiatry of the Hospital Universitario de la Princesa. He is Principal Investigator of the Centro de Investigación Biológica en Red de Salud Mental, the Spanish Mental Health Research Network, where he holds the position of deputy scientific director and is responsible for international affairs. Dr. Ayuso-Mateos is currently participating in European collaborative studies focused in the harmonization of population cohorts, and on mental disorders and employment. He is also leading national studies on the epidemiology of suicidal ideation and behaviour in the general populations and clinical samples.
Dr. Ayuso-Mateos has designed several programs aimed at the prevention of suicide in several populations in Spain. He is the director of the WHO Collaborative Center for Mental Health Services Research and Training at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid; he is a member of the WHO International Advisory Group for the Revision of ICD-10 Mental and Behavioural Disorders, and he is a member of the ICD-10 Working Group on Mood and Anxiety Disorders.
