World Poetry Day and the International Day of Glaciers

This in Spanish: In anticipation of the joint celebration of the World Poetry Day and the International Day of Glaciers—both observed on March 21—the Instituto Cervantes presents a performative evening on March 18 that explores the intersections between poetry, Andean cultural traditions, and contemporary sound practices. The program features poetry readings in Spanish and Quechua by Odi Gonzales and Irma Alvarez Ccoscco, whose work is distinguished by its commitment to the preservation and dissemination of Andean linguistic and cultural heritage. The evening will also include an electronic music performance by Tyler Postiglione, developed from soundscapes connected to glacier ecosystems. This program is part of the public events accompanying the exhibition “Guardians of the Glaciers” by Peruvian photojournalist Ángela Ponce, which documents the environmental and sociocultural transformations linked to glacier retreat in the Andes.
