On April 2, in collaboration with the Cuban Cultural Center of NY, the film THE PADILLA CASE (2022), by Pavel Giraud, will be screened in the context of the exhibition “Fake News. The Power of Lies”. The director will be present.
Havana, spring 1971: The poet Heberto Padilla has just been released from prison and appears before the Cuban writers' guild where he intones a “heartfelt self-criticism” -according to his own words-, declares himself a counterrevolutionary agent and accuses many of his colleagues present, including his wife, of complicity. The Padilla Case is a surprising documentary that opens a window to explore one of the aspects of Cuba's past that persist in its present: the lack of freedom of expression and the movements of the cultural world to obtain it.
