What It Means to Be Human
The Instituto Cervantes in New York and Ópera Hispánica are organizing a panel discussion on artificial intelligence from an artistic perspective, on the occasion of the New York premiere of KLARA, an opera-ballet in four Haikus, presented by Opera Hispánica.
The roundtable will feature the participation of the author, Spanish composer and conductor Pedro Halffter, and philosopher Cameron Kirk-Giannini, professor at Rutgers University, focusing on the security of artificial intelligence. Also, professor Lauren Goodlad, chair of the Critical AI at Rutgers will take part in the discussion.
The talk will be moderated by Francisco Salazar, co-creator and senior editor of OperaWire. During the event, Ashley Galvani Bell, soprano, and Silvia Santinelli, pianist, will perform excerpts from the opera.
KLARA, or What It Means To Be Human, will be performed at National Sawdust, 80 North St. Brooklyn, on February 28 at 7:30pm. Tickets on sale at the National Sawdust website.
The New York premiere of KLARA, part of Veintiún-OH, Opera Hispánica's 21st Century Chamber Opera Series, is presented by Opera Hispánica in collaboration with National Sawdust, Divaria Productions, CUNY City Tech, and New York City Opera, with partial support from a NY grant through Opera America supported by the Howard Gilman Foundation.
