Mythologies of Return Painter: Anda Mendieta
The scholar Adriana Méndez Rodenas and the artist Aurora De Armendi will present their new book, which pays tribute to Rupestrian Sculptures (1981), a body of work created by the artist Ana Mendieta in the national park Escaleras de Jaruco (Havana). The low-relief sculptures, carved on the walls of a cave, evoke the Taíno Indians‘ belief system and is the most intimate and revealing series of her work. This constitutes a live testimony of the Cuban cultural memory.
