Manhattan y las islas dolorosas de José Marti
From his transatlantic viewpoint in New York, the Cuban poet, journalist and revolutionary José Martí (1853 - 1895) developed an alternative vision of the history and culture of the New World in order to help construct a future global equality. Diving into the great cultural theories of the Caribbean, this conference will focus on the dynamics and challenges between modernism and postmodernism, between a single narrative and a multitude of different viewpoints, between the world literature (or universal literature) and the world’s literatures; all in the context of the 21st century artistic movements – between Front Street and Wall Street.
