Duero vs Duero

The Duero, the “River of Gold” of Roman times, now yields a darker and reddish, but equally golden harvest. One of the great wine rivers of the world, the vineyards of Ribera del Duero and Toro lay along its course and the ones of its tributaries. When it crosses into Portugal it becomes the Douro and its vineyards produce grapes for the famous fortified Port and the strong Douro reds, in which the Tempranillo grape (known there as Tinta Roriz) plays a pivotal role. In this seminar we will compare the powerful red wines from the appellations that dot this blessed wine river.
