Arraigados by Pierre Gonnord
Pierre Gonnord’s portraits celebrate with temperance and with force the dignity of the human condition. They invite us to connect to this common human understanding through the faces of Asturian miners. The images are in line with the history of portraiture that focuses on the representation of psychology and identity. Pierre Gonnord reminds us of the paths previously taken by photographers such as Thomas Struth, Wolgang Tillmans or Rineke Dijstra. In this fashion, Gonnord’s portraits manage to showcase the greatness of being, of individuals, and of their social and cultural construction.
