And Bernardo de Gálvez Entered Washingon

The author, Francisco Reyero, will talk about his book “And Bernardo de Gálvez Entró en Washington” (Los Papeles del Sitio / Unicaja Foundation) and the English edition “And Bernardo de Gálvez Entered Washington”. The book explains how Bernardo de Gálvez, Governor of Spanish Louisiana during the key years of the American Revolution, was decisive for the independence of the United States. As he died shortly after the war, Gálvez was not as well known as some other soldiers or politicians. But some years ago, a civil movement of Spanish and American citizens on both sides of the Atlantic began to actively promote the memory of the Spanish soldier. mAs a result of these efforts, Bernardo de Gálvez was named an Honorary Citizen of the United States in 2014. Since that year, his portrait hangs in the U.S. Senate, marking more than two centuries of history. Francisco "Paco" Reyero (Seville, 1971) is a Spanish journalist and writer with a long and productive career in radio, the press and, especially television.
