Ribera del Duero Icons
In the 1970s, Alejandro Fernández released the first vintage of his acclaimed Pesquera wines. His lead was immediately followed by a handful of wineries. They all showed that a new and powerful style of Tempranillo differing from the dominant Rioja model can be made. Their success and distinctive personality led to the birth of the Ribera del Duero wine appellation in 1982. Since then, a few more ambitious wineries and winemakers have taken this region to new heights. This tasting is devoted to those pioneering wineries, visionary winemakers and stellar wines responsible for the creation, style and world-class reputation of Ribera del Duero.
