Felipe Fournier Jazz Quartet
As part of the Cervantes Week dedicated to the Voices of Central America, on April 25, the Felipe Fournier Jazz Quartet will offer a concert at the Cervantes Institute. Felipe Fournier is a Latin Grammy-winning Costa Rican producer, vibraphonist/percussionist, musical director, arranger and educator. He graduated from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico in Jazz and Caribbean Music. In 2017, Fournier won the Latin Grammy for Best Mariachi/Ranchero Album for Flor de Toloache's “Las Caras Lindas” as producer. Previously, he was Grammy and Latin Grammy nominated with Charlie Sepulveda & The Turnaround (2008); Grammy and Latin Grammy nominated with Nestor Torres Nouveau Latino (2009); Ruben Blades and Cheo Feliciano Eba Say Aja (2012); and Charlie Sepulveda Mr. EP - A Tribute to Eddie Palmieri (2017). Based in New York City since 2013, Felipe is the musical director of Supermambo! A Vibes Tribute to Tito Puente; Luba Mason's Triangle; Ballet Folklorico NEPANTLA; and the cabaret show The Mexican Affair, among others. Fournier also performs as a sideman with Miguel Zenón's SUR, Luisito Quintero's 3rd Element, Axel Tosca Quartet, Xiomara Laugart, Guillermo Klein and Consoul Big Band.
