Spaniards in the Holocaust: The liberation of KL Mauthausen, May 5th, 1945
On May 5th, 1945, a platoon of the 11th Armored Division "Thunderbolt" of the U.S. Army liberated the concentration camp of Mauthausen (Austria). Some ten thousand Spaniards had been deported there between 1940 and 1945. In this talk, Silvia Ribelles de la Vega will explain how the Spaniards arrived at this camp, and what their role was before, during and after liberation.
