Welcome Mister Marshall!
Villar del Río is a small, quiet, poor and forgotten town, where nothing out of the routine ever happens. Only the arrival of the folk singer Carmen Vargas and her agent and representative have given a note of novelty to the boring life of the town. That same morning a government delegate suddenly appears, announcing the arrival, at any moment, of a Marshall Plan commission. Juan Antonio Bardem and Luis García Berlanga, helped by Miguel Mihura, wrote this corrosive story based on the unrest produced in Spain for not having participated in the distribution of the American aid known as the Marshall Plan, purpose of which was the reconstruction of a battered Europe after the world war.
