Miriam Lies

The creative couple formed by Natalia Cabral and Oriol Estrada maintains, from the Dominican Republic, an artistic pulse with documentary observation, already from their work carried out at the San Antonio de los Baños School. Their first two works, Tu Y Yo (2014) and Site of Sites (2016), had an excellent reception at international festivals. Miriam Lies is her first work of fiction, in which the differences and harshness that arise from the conflict between the individual and the social are revealed.

Synopsis: The quiet world of a petty-bourgeois family begins to crumble from the moment the fourteen-year-old Miriam meets her boyfriend on the Internet. While her family and friends enthusiastically prepare a traditional fifteen-year-old celebration party, Miriam doesn't know how to explain that her boyfriend is black.
